Earthsea Jewellery was born from a love of the ocean, creativity, and the belief that every piece of jewellery should tell a story.
I moved to Australia from Germany in 2019 on a one-year Working Holiday Visa. Within days of arriving, I fell in love with this incredible country and knew I wanted to build my life here. What followed was years of hard work, determination, and many challenges as I fought to make Australia my home.
Along the way, my health took an unexpected turn. My body became increasingly unwell, and eventually I could no longer continue working in a traditional job. It was a difficult time, but it also became the beginning of something new.
My creative journey actually began long before Earthsea Jewellery. While working as a hairdresser in Germany for many years, I started making earrings and selling them in the salon where I worked. I loved creating pieces that made people feel special and unique.
After arriving in Australia, I worked full-time and spent my evenings teaching myself micro macramé jewellery making with wax cords. I started selling my handmade pieces at small local markets in Queensland and quickly fell in love with sharing my creations with others.
As my skills grew, so did my passion for jewellery making. What began with knotting cords and creating bohemian-inspired pieces slowly evolved into a love for metalsmithing and jewellery making. With a small setup in the garage of my partner's parents, a few basic tools, and plenty of determination, Earthsea Jewellery was born.
My very first market stall as Earthsea Jewellery on the Yorke Peninsula was as simple as it gets: a small Kmart table, a handful of rings, and some old bowls filled with rice to display my creations. But people connected with my work, and before long, my little business began to grow.
As demand increased, so did my collection. More tables were added, new designs were created, and Earthsea Jewellery evolved into the vibrant market stall many people know today. From handcrafted sterling silver and brass rings to ocean-inspired treasures, every piece is made with care and designed to capture a little piece of nature's magic.
As Earthsea Jewellery continued to grow, so did another dream of mine — a life with more adventure and a deeper connection to nature. Together with my partner, I built a van that allows me to create and run my business while travelling around Australia. Today, I make my jewellery surrounded by the places that inspire me most: the ocean, rugged coastlines, peaceful forests, and the beauty of the natural world. Living and creating on the road allows me to stay connected to the landscapes that influence every piece I make.
